Art at Times: THE MUSEUM AND THE COLLECTION
The spaces that host contemporary art museums can be of different sorts: sometimes they are cutting edge buildings designed by famous and important architects; sometimes they are ancient buildings that have preserved the magnificence of their regal rooms with their original frescos, stuccos and crystals; other times they are ex factories or industrial spaces that have been adapted in order to host large installations and sculptures.
Sometimes the house of an art collector can become a museum.
The art collector gathers up works of art into a collection.
This means that the art market, artists and institutions are actively supported.
The art collector choses art works according to his or her personal taste, interests and tendencies, sometimes following the advice from experts and art critics. Very often, within the choice, studies of current and precise themes emerge. A collection is a sort of story that unites the art collector’s biography to the one of artists and their work.
A few of the largest private collections make up the original nucleus of important museums, which are both private and public.
